Our mission is to bring God's kingdom, up there, down here.  We do this by Reaching Seekers, Building Believers, and Serving the World.

Reach Seekers
We believe Jesus Christ is the solution to the deepest longing of the human heart.  He is the answer to the most serious problems that plague our society.  When Jesus is Lord and the Holy Spirit enters the heart of the believer, we find the empty places filled, and the dark sides of our soul transformed.  Not everyone knows this, even people who know Jesus don’t realize he is the solution to the deepest longings of our heart and part of our mission is to share this Good News of who Jesus is.

Build Believers
“Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.”  - Matthew 28:18
A disciple of Jesus is one who has firmly decided to learn from Jesus how to lead their life, whatever that may be, as Jesus himself would do it.  And, as best they know how, they are making plans—taking the necessary steps, progressively arranging and rearranging their affairs—to do this.  (Dallas Willard,)
Our plan of discipleship at St. Matthew’s is for everyone who calls St. Matthew’s their home Church to practice the following spiritual disciplines, daily prayer, Bible study, engagement in Christian Community, service, and stewardship.

Serve the World
Jesus says in the gospel of Luke, “I am among you as one who serves.”  Jesus not only refers to himself as a servant, sent to serve others, but he teaches his disciples that the greatest in the kingdom are those who serve.  The church does not exist for itself; it exists to serve the world.  It is not ultimately about the church, but about all the people God wants to bless through the church.   When the church gives itself away in radical acts of service and compassion, expecting nothing in return, then the way of Jesus is displayed.
