Sierra Leone Virtual Mission Trip
Help support our Helping Children Worldwide (HCW) Child Rescue Center (CRC) kids during the ongoing Ebola crisis. The children of the CRC have been isolated to the CRC compound for several months to help protect them from the spread of Ebola. Because of this, HCW has started to think outside of the box to help provide educational opportunities for the kids. As a HCW partner church St. Matthew’s has been asked to lend a hand by participating via a virtual mission. On Sunday, February 22nd after each service, we will be videotaping people reading a short, 4-8 minutes long, storybook. After all the stories have been taped HCW will send them to Sierra Leone to share with the kids. If you are interested in reading, please pick out a favorite book and contact Amanda Bumgarner (call, text or e-mail at 804-909-2810 or firstname.lastname@example.org). HCW does ask for the participants to be high school age or older. We are also looking for anyone with a camcorder and videography skills to be our videographer.

Financial Peace University starting February 22nd
We would like to begin this life-changing class taught by Dave Ramsey on video and coordinated by Pastor Gordon Pruitt on Sunday, February 8th (time to be determined). The cost of the class is $93 (for individual or couple) and includes a CD, book, workbook, online budgeting tools, and video access. This nine-week class on money will walk you through the basics of budgeting, dumping debt, planning for the future and much more. Please let us know if you are interested (email firstname.lastname@example.org or return bulletin tear-off).
Forming St. Matthew’s Tough Mudder Team
Last year Pastor Gordon participated in the Tough Mudder race near Kings Dominion and had a blast! This year he wants to share the love and would like to form a team to participate on this June 13th race. If you are not familiar with the Tough Mudder its a 10-12 mile run with about 20 obstacles mixed in. Don’t be overwhelmed by the 10-12 mile run part. If you can run 6 miles without stopping you should be fine as there is a lot of stopping and staring. Also, any obstacles you don’t want to do you are allowed to bypass. One of the great things about the race is the team aspect of it. There is no clock and you have to rely on your teammates for many of the obstacles. You can signup online at toughmudder.com. The team name is Jesus Mud Freaks and the password is john96. Let Pastor Gordon know if you have any questions, email@example.com.
