This Week in Worship: Church: The Hope of the World
If you spend any time watching the news or reading the newspaper this week it is easy to come to the conclusion that the world is in need of hope. That leads to the question, what is the hope of the world? The hope of the world is not government, academia, business, but the church because it is to the church that God has entrusted the message of salvation which truly changes people’s lives and hearts. Join us Sunday as we look at the hope of the world! Bring a Bible and bring a friend.

St. Matthew’s Summer Celebration This Sunday!
We will have one worship service at 10 a.m. and will follow with a picnic luncheon.   See you on Sunday!

Blessing of the Backpacks
Our first Blessing of the Backpacks will be this Sunday, August 17th at our 10 a.m. worship service.  We will have all students bring their backpacks to the altar for a special "back to school" blessing.  Parents and students will receive a token of remembrance for the upcoming school year, and commit to a Jesus-filled year.   After the worship service, please plan to stay for our church picnic .  We will do another Blessing of the Backpacks on Sunday, September 7th for those who are unable to attend this Sunday, August 17th.

Fall Nursery Volunteers Needed
We are making our fall nursery volunteer schedule and are in need of nursery volunteers for the 9:30 and 11:00 worship services from September 7th to December 28th.  If you are able to volunteer a Sunday (or 2), please complete and return the bulletin tear-off or call/email the office at 784-3176 or mystmatthews@gmail.com.  No special training is required.  A love for babies and toddlers is a plus!

CARITAS
CARITAS will be November 29th—December 6th.  Please note that we accept donations throughout the year and are in need of the following (travel size only):  toothbrushes, mouthwash, chapstick, deodorant, combs, dental floss, shaving cream, disposable razors, and hand-sanitizer.  You can drop items off at the church office and label “CARITAS.”

We are always looking for new ideas for entertainment or special services provided for our guests during CARITAS week.  This could range from haircuts, singing- /musical entertainment, scripture reading & discussion, standup comedian, storytelling, magic show, or something as simple as lending a caring ear.

This year, we are in need of a Laundry Servant Coordinator.  This volunteer will secure laundry servants on designated days to wash/dry our guests clothing and towels in a short turnaround time.  If interested, please contact Harriette Horn at 338-1107.

If you have a talent that you would like to share, interested in being the Laundry Servant Coordinator, or would like to volunteer (overnight chaperone, van driver, or laundry volunteer)please contact Harriette Horn at 338-1107.
