“Command then to do good, to be rich in good deeds, and to be generous and willing to share.” Imagine the difference we could make as a church community if we followed Paul’s command? Early Christians did and as a result they were known for the extraordinary generosity they displayed. Is that how people in our communities would describe us? Be Rich in Good Deeds! Hope to see you Sunday. Bring a Bible and bring a friend.
St. Matthew’s Be Rich Campaign Continues!
During our “Be Rich” Campaign we have three goals.
Be Rich and Generous with our time. We want our church to log a 1,000 hours of service time by either serving in an existing project or by creating their own. This can be done as part of the church or outside of the church. We are hoping for four hours per average worship attender. On November 9th we will have our “Be Rich” Sunday where we will have an abbreviated worship service and then be commissioned to go out into the community to serve.
Be Rich and Generous with our food. We will collect 1,000 items of food. Four items per average worship attender. Bring the food on Sunday or drop it off at the church during the week.
Be Rich and Generous with our money. We will collect $7,500 to give away to two great charities, Goochland Family Services, and Richmond Justice Initiative $30 per average worship attender. We will have a special offering on November 9th and 16th, but you can bring the offering this Sunday as well. Be sure to write “Be Rich offering” on the memo.
